SPACEWOMb GALLERY Exhibit

Hello everyone, I have been getting really bad at posting lately, but I am back to tell you all that I have just had a gallery showing at SPACEWOMb Gallery. They took three of my dolls for display. I am so excited to have been shown there, hopefully I will have more showings in the future! They also used one of my dools for the flyer, yay!

A new direction

Here is a new project that I am working on. I was inspired by Frida Kahlo's Wounded Deer painting. I'm not sure where this one is going, but I'm sure it will tell me what to do while I'm making it. Yeah, I admit it, my dolls tell me what they want to look like and I listen.

MY Little Devil in a Blue Dress

This is a doll that I am working on which I call "Devil in a Blue Dress". I have a few finishing touches to add to her but I wanted to share these photos before I was done. My inspiration was Tim Curry as "Darkness" in the movie Legend.

And Off She Goes!

Well I finally got around to sending her off to Art Doll quarterly. They're having a seated doll competition and since she hasn't been doing anything but sitting on her butt all day, I decided to send her in. I hope she gets published, wish me luck!

It's been a while but I have completed her!

I am sorry, but I have neglected to show you all how she came out. For the most part she’s done, but I always go back and add things. I subtract things as well, frantically ripping things off. Hopefully I’ll leave this one alone, she’s been trough enough already! Her title was originally "My little black heart " but as a suggestion from a friend I decided to call her Raven. I think it suits her well.

Russian Police Shutdown a Doll Protest

Photograph: Sergey Teplyakov/vkontakte

I thought I'd share this with you all on this gloomy Friday. The police in Russia are putting pressure on activists to shut down a doll protest which consisted of a few dolls with signs. They even told them that they had to rent the snow that the toys were in from the city to try and shut down the protest. What are your thoughts on this? The Fall of Fimo

I found the achilles’ heel of my Fimo clay, making hands. I broke two fingers after curing the clay, so I put a ring on it lol! It seems to be very brittle with smaller details. At first I thought Fimo was perfect. It was very soft and easy to use, not so rough on the hands what more could I have wanted? Oh well, next clay I'm going to try will be Cernit. Other than that, what do you all think so far?

Lovely Lady Lumps

Here’s one of my work in progress dolls for the new year. I’m not exactly sure where I’m going with this one but I’m definitely trying to veer off into a different direction. I was thinking about the movie Legend when I started making her. By the way, due to new internet regulation laws that are pending, I will be censoring my doll’s lady lumps from now on. I do not wish to be contacted by the authorities or sued for showing nude dolls on any of my posts. Sorry for the inconvenience….

I'm Still working....

Here's how my latest doll is coming out so far. I've been using a few different techniques that I've found around the net such as Amanda DeVirgillo's blushing technique that can be found here: http://www.dollmakersdream.com/painting-polymer-clay.html.  She has a lot of useful information on her site so if you get a moment, take a look at her great advice and techniques there.

Another Small Peek!

Here's another small peek at the doll that I'm working on. I'm really, really liking the way she's beginning to look!

Back to Polymer Again

This is just a sneak peek of a doll that I am working on. I’ve changed clays again, so now I’m trying out Fimo which is a polymer clay. I was previously using Creative’s paper clay but got tired of the waiting for it to dry process. I originally started out using polymer but switched to papar clay because of a compatibility problem between the polymer clay and paint that I was using. The dolls that I made would stay sticky after painting them. Hopefully I won’t have that problem again, I like the way this one is starting to look.

All done here now on to the next!

I am finally done with this one. Second set of hands and first set of shoes, I'm very happy with the way they turned out. I think I'm going to try new things on each doll for now on to keep things a little more interesting and fun for me. I have quite a few ideas floating around for the next doll. Thanks for looking!

I'm not afraid of hands and feet anymore

Here's a few more work in progress photos of the last doll that I'm working on. I decided to give her some long creepy hands and some feet (which I rarely ever do). I'm soo done with making nubs :)Time to get back to work now just wanted to share these with you guys.

Just a little peek

Just wanted to come back and show some of the progress that I've been making on this last doll. Just giving you guys a little peek for now ;). She's coming out way better than I expected. I've been surprising my self lately with the more dolls I make.

The big one...

I'm finally getting back to this one. I had to put this one down for a little while so that I could update the other doll that's going to be in the show this November. I still have some minor adjustments for the other one but I think its safe for me to start working on this one again. She's about twice the size I normally work in, but I'm up for the challenge. It should be a lot easier for me to sew her clothes which I hate doing. Well I don't really hate it, I just get anxious at that point to be done with it all lol.
