So long....

Managed to make this one in a record breaking 2 days! I was on a tight deadline since our former Editor in Chief was leaving. I wanted to challenge myself to see if I could get her done and on her desk by Monday. I thought she'd be a funny parting gift. Good luck to you in your new position Amy!

Shipped Yesterday!

Well it was hard for me to do it but I mailed her off to Art Doll Quarterly for the 5" challenge. I really hope she gets picked. That would be wonderful! I also hope that they mail her back to me . I fell pretty good about the way she turned out considering the size of her. I really miss her :(

Mini under 5" Art doll challenge

I've decided to make a mini Melandolly so that I could try to submit it into the Art Doll quarterly magazine's contest. The rules are to keep the doll under 5". That was pretty hard for me since I've just started and haven't experimented with making different size dolls. (My dolls are usually about 14") After the second try I have it down packed now. Just might play with this size now that it didn't take too much time to make.

I'm starting to realize....

I'm starting to realize just how bad I am at blogging... sigh. Oh well I promise I will try to get better at this. But in the mean time, here is Amelia all dressed up. I'm thinking about changing her hairstyle though.

It's been a while...

Well its been quite a while since I've made a post here but I haven't been slacking. I've been so busy trying to add new items to my Etsy shop that I've neglected posting updates here. I actually made a new doll named Amelia but i have yet to dress her. I hope she's not getting too cold.

Can't keep still

Since I can't stay focused on one thing to save my life, I decided to make magnets for the fridge along with making dolls. At least I won't have to worry about making dresses and all of the other little things to fuss about.

New Hair

The more dolls I make, the more I learn. This one I hand sewed a wig and glued it on instead of gluing piece by piece. Way faster, no glue covered hands and nails. Best of all you use less hair!

Well I managed to get her leg back on but she still looks like she's upset with me.

Ohhh Snap!

Well in the process of attaching the limbs, I snapped off her left leg. If I didn't know any better I would think that she felt it. poor little thing :(

I have made the rest of the limbs for my new doll. She looks like she'll be much smaller than the others (like 7") and more in proportion. I will be adding pics very soon to show the progress that I am making on this one

Well since I finally finished the other two dolls, I decided to get started on another.

After a few pills she seems to be doing better. I finally made a dress, I should have started making dresses for the other girls first. I hope they don't get mad at me :0

Her hair is complete now with a blonde stip in the front. Looks like she's off her meds here. But she'll be alright.

I added the red hair to this one as well. Some of it at least.

Red Hair

I figured I'd add red hair to compensate for the way the eyes came out. In the middle of the process I realized that the clay that I used for this one was very brittle and broke easily. I had to now search for a new brand of clay. Not fun at all especially when I'm in the midst of a creative spurt.

A little makeup

So I painted a little makeup and even added eyebrows. She looks a little better but still, missing something.....

The Stalker.....

I was hoping that painting her would make her look better but she's still missing something.... Kinda creepy looking.

Here is an earlier photo of the third doll that I made (the unpainted one). Didn't take too many pics of this one, I wanted to use the eyes that I previously created. I wasn't too happy with the outcome, but decided to make lemonade out of lemons. :)

A little closer

I finished applying the hair and here is a closer look of her face.

This one's a little blurry, please forgive me :). I started putting the hair on this one and decided to mix some blond into it.

This is the second doll that I started making. I tried to make the eyes a little different but I don't think I'm going to make anymore shaped like them. They will do for this one though.

Get to work!

This is the fabric that I am going to make her dress out of. I cut it to fit her I just didn't get around to stitching it. It's just tied in the back

Decided to keep the hair and use it for this doll. I put it on with a glue gun.

How do I look?

Trying out this hair again to make sure it doesn't blend too much with the complexion of the doll'

Here she is painted. Ran into a problem with the paint feeling sticky after a week or so. After some research I found that certain paint and clay combinations get sticky from the way they react to each other and never dry. My way around this was to put clear nail polish on top of the doll's coat of paint.
