I'm Still working....

Here's how my latest doll is coming out so far. I've been using a few different techniques that I've found around the net such as Amanda DeVirgillo's blushing technique that can be found here: http://www.dollmakersdream.com/painting-polymer-clay.html.  She has a lot of useful information on her site so if you get a moment, take a look at her great advice and techniques there.

Another Small Peek!

Here's another small peek at the doll that I'm working on. I'm really, really liking the way she's beginning to look!

Back to Polymer Again

This is just a sneak peek of a doll that I am working on. I’ve changed clays again, so now I’m trying out Fimo which is a polymer clay. I was previously using Creative’s paper clay but got tired of the waiting for it to dry process. I originally started out using polymer but switched to papar clay because of a compatibility problem between the polymer clay and paint that I was using. The dolls that I made would stay sticky after painting them. Hopefully I won’t have that problem again, I like the way this one is starting to look.

All done here now on to the next!

I am finally done with this one. Second set of hands and first set of shoes, I'm very happy with the way they turned out. I think I'm going to try new things on each doll for now on to keep things a little more interesting and fun for me. I have quite a few ideas floating around for the next doll. Thanks for looking!

I'm not afraid of hands and feet anymore

Here's a few more work in progress photos of the last doll that I'm working on. I decided to give her some long creepy hands and some feet (which I rarely ever do). I'm soo done with making nubs :)Time to get back to work now just wanted to share these with you guys.

Just a little peek

Just wanted to come back and show some of the progress that I've been making on this last doll. Just giving you guys a little peek for now ;). She's coming out way better than I expected. I've been surprising my self lately with the more dolls I make.

The big one...

I'm finally getting back to this one. I had to put this one down for a little while so that I could update the other doll that's going to be in the show this November. I still have some minor adjustments for the other one but I think its safe for me to start working on this one again. She's about twice the size I normally work in, but I'm up for the challenge. It should be a lot easier for me to sew her clothes which I hate doing. Well I don't really hate it, I just get anxious at that point to be done with it all lol.

So here's what I did with that tooth

Well I decided to make Boo some kind of funny vampire fairy that bites people's teeth out when they go to sleep. And no, she does not leave any money under your pillow, she just flies away like nothing ever happened. I had a lot of fun adding this bloody tooth for some reason >:)

A tooth for Boo

I've decided to make a tooth for Boo to hold so that she could be some sort of vampire tooth fairy. I made this one out of polymer clay because of the firmness which makes it easier for me to shape. I've been working with paperclay for my dolls because of how rough polymer clay is on my hands but I think it's too soft for this job. I figured I go back to polymer for this small addition. My other gripe I have with it is that I can't seem to keep this stuff clean. I manage to get every little speckle of dirt on it that I can. Anyone have a way to get around this? I'm going to paint over it anyway but I'm sure someone has the secret.

I will miss them dearly...

They are going to two different homes. I wish I could keep them :(. I would make more but I need to finnish up on some other things I started.

Finally done with Boo

I am glad to say that I am done with Boo for the most part. As usual, I might be revisiting her later on to add something like I don't know...  FEET? lol! Or maybe I'll cut some more fluff off of her wings. I just like to work all over the place I guess, start something, almost complete it, move on to something else, then go back and fine tune. I'll get it right one of these days

Back to Ms. Forest...

Well I've figured out what to add onto Ms. Forest. I've listened to you all telling me she needed a necklace so I made her one out of grey rough diamonds and added a little more lace to the hat on her head so that it was more visible. I've also added a little bit of shredded lace to her arms and pulled some of the hair off of her face. Thank you all for your input with this one, I'm very happy with the final results.

More photos of Boo

Boo has been coming along pretty well so far. I managed to get her hands on seamlessly but I still have a long ways to go. Just need more time. I'm just glad that Irene has just about left the building, now lets see when I can make it in for work.

My progress with Boo

Well here's the progress that I've been making on Boo so far.  I wanted to try a few different things with her. For one, I have never ever in my life made hands, I can't even draw them. All the characters in my drawings for as long as I could remember have had their hands in their pockets, they outright scare me. In addition to that, I wanted to start exploring new ways of making eyes. The eyes that I've been making were fun while they lasted, but I feel it's time for me to evolve and move on to more complex ones. I'm already thinking about changes I'm going to make on the next doll that I haven't even started yet. All these random thoughts running through my head are going to kill me. Maybe I'll put feet on this one, or maybe I'll just procrastinate and put them on the next one. They scare me as well, maybe even more than hands....

Boo!

Here's the next doll that I'm working on. I'm tentatively calling her Boo after the little girl in Monster's Inc. I'll be uploading more pics as I go !

She's done but missing something...

Well here's what she looks like so far. She's done but not quite complete. I'm just trying to figure out what she needs, maybe I'll start another project and come back to her to finish up. I usually think of new things when I move on. So I'm off to my next project, watch out now!

Dolly Deerest

I was inspired to make this doll after seeing The Alexander McQueen exhibit at the Metropolitan musuem of art. He had a beautiful dress made out of ruffles of lace and the model wore antlers to top off the look. The look was called the ghostly bride. I thought it would be interesting to try some antlers out to change things and keep evolving.

Got her back in one piece

I have finally received my doll back from Art doll quarterly. If you missed it she was part of the tiny doll under 5" challenge in their summer 2011edition. I'm glad to say she made it to California and back in one piece and is now among her sisters.  It was quite a challenge but, I think I'm going to try making more at her size.

My Latest Doll

This is another doll that I had worked on over my 3 day weekend last week. She's the first free standing doll that I've made. I wanted to show off her dress which is the problem that I have with my seated dolls. Her arms are bendable so that they could be adjusted. Also, with this doll I wanted to show more of my inner weird dark side which I plan on sprinkling into the next few dolls that I make.

About that angry bird

Well I finished the angry bird, I'm happy with the way that he turned out. I have a few more that I plan on creating but maybe they'll be the other birds from the game. I have a few other loose ends that I tied up and I will be posting them in a few days. Lets just say I had a very productive 3 day weekend, I just wish I could have more days off so that I could keep working like this.
